EUGENE, Ore. -- Edana Paz can't believe her eyes.
"I'm very excited, a little overwhelmed, actually," Paz said.
A brand new bike stands before her eyes.
"I am very grateful," Paz said. "I am very grateful."
It's a gift from a complete stranger. The new 30-speed Trek, worth more than $1,300, replaces the bike someone stole from her.
KVAL News first shared Paz's story last week. She had been training for a 100-mile bike ride, raising money for the Leukemia &?Lymphoma Society. Paz, a lung cancer survivor, locked her bike to the back of her car and went into La Oficina restaurant on Willamette in Eugene to help with the Cinco de Mayo crowd. When she came out, the bike was gone. The restaurant's surveillance cameras captured two people stealing the bike around 11:30 that night. After her story aired, a viewer, who wanted to remain anonymous, e-mailed KVAL, saying he wanted to buy Paz a new bike.
"He said because he felt what I was doing was important and that is the raising of funds for leukemia and lymphoma," Paz said. "It takes your breath away. You know. It's very emotional."
The donor stopped by Paul's Bicycle Way of Life on Monday to pay for the bike. Sales manager Rob Craft helped Paz wheel it out to her car. Now, it's all hers, ready for her to ride and help her raise more money for leukemia and lymphoma.
